I get that the whole “Shit ______s Say” trend is boring and played out now. But I can and will get behind “Shit Austinites Say” even if it’s not particularly funny (except all the street name pronunciation stuff, that’s perfect).
Also a thing I did naturally that is also something I love about Austinites watching something filmed in Austin: obviously the number of stuff film there isn’t comparable to something like New York. But for the most part, New Yorkers don’t seem overly concerned with/interested in the “I know where that is!” game. Every time I’ve watched a movie filmed in Austin, the tendency is to point out where someone is the second you recognize the location. Because we’re excited. Because that place where we live is on TV!
This doesn’t apply to the Real World Austin, obviously. It more or less mostly applies to Richard Linklater movies.
